Analysis and comparison of traffic flow models: a new hybrid traffic flow model vs benchmark models

Abstract Background This paper compares a hybrid traffic flow model with benchmark macroscopic and microscopic models. The proposed may be applied considering mixed is based on the combination of cell transmission cellular automata. Modelled variables compared against three models, namely Krauß model, intelligent driver automata, two Cell Transmission Model dispersion, respectively. To this end, main applications were considered: (i) link signalised junction at (ii) artery, (iii) grid network junctions. Results numerical simulations show that provides acceptable results.
